The VNAB has embraced the tradition of celebrating the contributions of local Heroes who have been integral to its ongoing mission and success. These Heroes have come from all walks of life: physicians, police officers, funders, patients, donors, community leaders, advocates and, of course, our nurses. Each year, the VNAB honors a select group of extraordinary Heroes at our Annual Gala.
The VNA of Boston cares for many of greater Boston’s most vulnerable residents; from elders to premature born infants and seriously and chronically ill children. Many of these and other patients who are cared for by the VNA of Boston will directly benefit from the success of our Annual Gala. The primary goal of the dinner is to raise vital funds that will support the Maternal Child Health and Free and Subsidized Care programs of the VNAB.
We believe that it is important to acknowledge the support of many individuals and community partners whom we consider to be our “Heroes”. Past recipients of this award include: JudyAnn Bigby, MD, Secretary of Health and Human Services for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Joseph Coughlin, PhD, Founder and Director of the MIT Age Lab, Cleve Killingsworth, Chairman and CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Mayor Thomas M. Menino, National Grid, Shepard Remis, Esq., Goodwin Procter, James Roosevelt, Jr., CEO, Tufts Health Plan, Elaine Ullian, CEO, Boston Medical Center, Lynn Wiatrowski, EVP, Bank of America and Matthew Fishman, VP, Partners Health Care System.
